Nova Scotia Fall Wine Festival
Gorgeous vineyard tours, delectable wine tastings and perfect pairings are just a few of the activities lined up for Nova Scotia’s 12th annual Fall Wine Festival. If wine does not appeal to you, the festival has a month of extraordinary culinary events happening throughout the province. The festival starts on September 16 and runs until October 17.
Nova Scotia is home to 11 wineries and some very unique wines. Our cool climate, combined with our diverse soil make for some delicious grape varietals. Over the past 10-15 years, Nova Scotia has been perfecting its wine making techniques to become an internationally recognized wine making region.
There are 4 distinct regions along with numerous others who are working on becoming well respected wineries. The Annapolis Valley, Malagash Peninsula, and LaHave River Valley have been creating fine wine for 25 years. Some of our unique varietals include L’Acadie Blanc, New York muscat, Seyval Blanc, Vidal Blanc, and Chardonnay.
The Malagash Peninsula is the closest wine making region to our Nova Scotia resort. Just a few hours from Liscombe Lodge is Jost, one of the most popular vineyards in the province. Jost is kicking off the wine festival with its annual Charity Wine Stomping event. The grape stomp runs from 12-5PM with musical entertainment from Artful Knave. You can watch for $3.00 or enter a team for $150. October 16 marks Jost’s Harvest Open House. Here you can see what takes place during a grape harvest and sample some grapes and juice. Music is by Laughing Freeman and tours are offered at 12PM and 3 PM. Admission is free. You can stay with us at Liscombe Lodge and take a day trip to Jost.
For a complete listing of events, visit the Nova Scotia Wine Festivalwebsite. Next time you dine with Nova Scotia restaurants like our Riverside Room, try some of our locally made wine.
Happy Travels!
